VoiceThread
With VoiceThread, group conversations are collected and shared in one place from anywhere in the world. All with no software to install.
A VoiceThread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to navigate pages and leave comments in 5 ways - using voice (with a mic or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). Share a VoiceThread with friends, students, and colleagues for them to record comments too.
Users can doodle while commenting, use multiple identities, and pick which comments are shown through moderation. VoiceThreads can even be embedded to shown and receive comments on other websites and exported to MP3 players or DVDs to play as archival movies. Our class is one account with multiple identities. THis saves logging in and out for each user.

Voicethread is free to sign up to and use. Don't be scared by the use of the word 'account' ...this does not always involve a cost...(for a change).

I have set up a Glogster Edu account, which is slightly different from what you see at the Glogster Website. The students will use GlogsterEdu to present their work and embed it into their own page on our class wiki. They can add graphics, video and music files and images. This is the link to Glogster.com. The creation of posters is the same, however the control of accounts, profiles etc remains mine in Glogster Edu. Dip your toe in and have a feel.I have used GlogsterEdu to create our new home page and the Student Pages link page where each student's photo or name tag links to their own page..

What should I do on Glogster?
Glogster is a revolutionary way of expressing your mood, feelings and ideas, and it goes miles beyond text or video! Creating a Glog lets you express all those things you haven’t been able to describe by words. It opens the door to a whole new world of communication – just choose a background, throw in some shapes and characters from our galleries, add text, your own videos or photos and perhaps a pinch of music and there it is! In just a few minutes, you can make a digital poster, a colorful medley of ideas, reflecting your own special style.

What is a Private Glog?

If a Glog is Private, it is not displayed on Glogster. Only the people who know its adress can see it. For example, if you are a teacher and your students create Glogs as courseworks, they can make Private Glogs.
A Glog that is Private can only be shared by its creator, so nobody can present your Glog as their own, which could sometimes happen with Public Glogs. If a Glog is Public, any user can view, print or embed it in another webpage.

I have used Photostory3 to create the cake decorating, dress up disco and maths movie/slideshows. This is a safe and trusted programme from Microsoft. Once downloaded, the internet is not needed. You add your own photos and music. We will be using this in class to document our learning. Have a play yourself and see how much fun it is.

The Hector’s World Safety Button™ is a child-activated safety tool which children can use if something on-screen upsets or worries them. The Hector’s World Safety Button is a simple executable file which you can download here for free. The file installs a swimming Hector’s Worldexternal image hw_nz_hector_002_website.png™ character in the upper right-hand corner of the computer screen (pictured right). A child can just click on Hector (or one of his friends) who then covers the screen with a beautiful underwater scene and gives the child a positive written message for clicking on the character, while encouraging them to get adult help. Click Hector to download.
